Dark Rooms takes the reader on a cleverly and neatly compressed verse tour of the interior and outer lives of three generations
Siddharth Kathragadda lives and works in America; his poetry is about India, and in Dark Rooms, his first book of poems, he acknowledges the strength of this particular combination -- as far as publishing poetry goes -- “ I would like to thank my homeland, India, for bringing poetry to my heart…and Publish America for giving me an opportunity to bring this book to the world.”Perhaps Dark Rooms could only have been written in America, for it does have that workshopped feel about it (particularly in the colours he names - vermeil, earth-worm purple, safranine…)
