'Charlie's West Side Story'
Crown Point author's book evokes images of region's early years

Charles A. Magrady of Crown Point believes that everyone has a story in them that wants to get out. But Magrady, who grew up on the South Side of Chicago and worked as a reading specialist for the Hammond Public Schools, has more than one story in him.
Magrady recently published "Charlie's West Side Story: Growing Up in the Shadow of the Chicago Stadium" (Publish America, 2006), a collection of vignettes about his early life experiences including the halcyon days when he and his family vacationed on Cedar Lake.
