Cloudburst
by Joshua Seidl, SSP
Cloudburst is set in the northern Great Lakes region. It is a dynamic novel interweaving three cultures: Anishinabe (Native), Euro-American and Métis (mixed). It follows people and events that lead up to the passage of the American Indian Freedom of Religion Law. This is an engaging insight to inculturation issues, the positive and mutual embrace of indigenous and ethnic cultures in the lands now called the Americas. It demonstrates the potential towards conciliation between aboriginal and non-native circles. The style is driven, the story vigorous, and the outcome magnificent.
