Success after a life of struggles
A Life of Struggles - Memoirs of Kundan S. Khera was successfully launched on November 22 in Ottawa. It seemed fitting to have Dr. Richard Davies of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute at the launch since part of the proceeds from the sale of the book were donated to the Heart Institute. Dr. Khera, a world renowned scientist, had a long relationship with the Institute, 22 years to be exact. The quantity and quality of care that he received enabled him to live his life to the fullest. His strength, determination, and self discipline rewarded him with a quality of life that was amazing for an octogenarian. His ailing heart gave up suddenly on April 1st at 81. The Institute's December newsletter features an article on the launch, and his wife, Claire Paulin, has received an invitation to make a formal presentation of the donation on the 2004 Heart Institute Telethon, scheduled for Saturday, February 7. In addition, author and TV Producer, Denise Lang reviewed the book and said, in part, "As the author of eight nonfiction books, including "The Dark Son" and "A Call For Justice" -- both about young killers -- I have witnessed the roller coaster of emotions these "insider" crimes inspire. I can only marvel at the author's strength as she delicately balances softer memories with harsh and hurtful realities. An act of murder forever divides a family's history into "Before" and "After" and Principe's stunning account will forever change your perception of what's really happening when you see another "media circus" surrounding a tragedy. An excellent read!"
