Speaking of the Lakes
Barbara Spring will speak at the Spring Lake Rotary Club on August 15 about The Dynamic Great Lakes and give a preview of The Wilderness Within. On August 19 she will give a talk at Spring Lakes new library about the ever changing Great Lakes system. On Oct. 16, she will speak in Rochester MI about how important the Great Lakes are to everyone.

Newspaper Article
Miss K. C. Morgan sat down last week for a person-to-person interview with a reporter for "The Southwestern Reporter". The article will discuss K. C.'s book The Creations of Belief: The Lost Goddess and most recent projects, and also the author's personal feelings about her work and the life of being a published author in general. It will appear in the August issue of the paper.

Civil War Author will be at Sharpsburg Heritage Festival in September
Gus Filegar, author of Fathers, Sons, and Brothers, Book One, will do a booksigning for his Civil War epic at the Sharpsburg Heritage Festival September 13th and 14th, 2003. In conjunction with the anniversary of the Battle of Antietam, this annual festival draws thousands of history minded people every year. Amy Lindenberger, the artist of the Civil War print, To Arms!,which graces the cover of Fathers, Sons, and Brothers will also be in attendance. Author and artist together . . . a truly grand affair!

Sacred Wells Reviewed by Britain's Druid Priestess
Emma Restall Orr, Britains former co-chief Druid and now head of the Druid Network recently reviewed Gary R. Varner's book, Sacred Wells. Ms. Orr has written a number of books on Druidry including Spirits of the Sacred Grove, Thorson's Guide to Druidry and Druid Priestess.

Book Signing
American author, Roxann Latimer (You Never Know) will be at EPP Book Services (GH) Ltd in Accra Ghana. The author recently had a play, "An African Love Story" produced in Ghana to successful box office and reviews. Come meet the author August 15th to the 18th 11 am to 1 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm.

Book signing and listing on the websites
"Fallen Angels," author, R.J. MacCurry did a book signing at Waldenbooks in Charleston, SC. Although the book signing was for only an hour, MacCurry signed 9 books that were sold during the event. Waldenbooks has agreed to carry his new novel in their stores in Greensboro, NC; Asheboro, NC; High Point, NC; Greenville, NC; and New Bern, NC. Other Waldenbooks Stores are also asking for the book to be carried in their stores. His book is being listed on various websites including: the W.A.R.D. website, Witchvox website, and the Alternative Reading website. On the Witchvox website, the book has been viewed over one hundred and forty times and is listed at 107 in ranking amoung almost 600 other books.

Novel Documents Dark Past
Share, Canada's largest ethnic newspaper, in its July 18 edition, carried a feature story on Horane Smith and his fourth work of historical fiction, The Lynching Stream. The story was entitled Novel Documents Dark Past and was carried prominently on page three along with a picture of the author.

Book Signing
Cassandra Murphy, author of Married But Single will be having her first books signing party on August 16, 2003 in Brooklyn New York's Cafe iimani's from 9 pm to 1 am.

New Website
A new website has been created to announce the paticular attributes of the novel, Fladen's Child - The Gentle Viking, an historical romance, by Walter E. Rudd. There will soon be an addition to the website detailing the Historical Setting for the story, since there is a shortage of broad knowledge about the Viking era, and the generally believed setting is fraught with misrepresentations and errors.

Radio Interview
Horane Smith, author of The Lynching Stream, was interviewed, on Tuesday, July 22, on the Toronto radio station CIUT-89.5 FM, following the publication of his new novel and an upcoming launch. He was interviewed on the popular Tuesday morning programme "Black Roots Radio." The Lynching Stream will be launched in Toronto, on July 31, as part of the book festival, Wordfest.

Firstborn author to attend 2 festivals in September
Firstborn author Bruce Tiven will attend the 3 day festival Boats, Books and Brushes in New London, CT on September 5, 6, and 7, 2003. He will be in the Connecticut Authors and Publishers tent where he will be signing copies of his book. Copies will be available for purchase.
He will also be a guest on September 13, 2003 at the Lisbon Fall Festival, being held on the grounds of the Bishop House on Route 169 in Lisbon Center. The Lisbon fall Festival is sponsored by the Lisbon Hisorical Society. Tiven will be signing copies of his book and they will be available at the festival.

Book Seminar
George Anthony gave a seminar recently on his book entitled Who Killed The Broadway Butterfly? and how to solve crimes and other problems at the North Kingstown, RI, library. It was well received. There were cookies and coffee to celebrate his appearance.

Hollywood Screenwriter, Stephen Lodge, Will Make Stopover in Alpine, Texas as Part of Book Tour
Front Street Books in Alpine, Texas, will be hosting a recitation and book signing by screenwriter/author, Stephen Lodge. He will be reading from his new novel, "Shadows of Eagles," on August 8, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. "Shadows of Eagles" is a World War II story set in the Texas Big Bend, and follows a posse of Texas Rangers as they pursue escaping German prisoners of war through the badlands of The Lone Star State.

Street Cats (and others)
Marrianne White had her first book signing for her first novel, Lost Child, July the 19th at the San Angelo, Hastings. Local news covered the event and it was included in the nightly broadcast. In addition, July the 26th Mrs. White has been invited to the Borders Books in Tulsa, OK to be included in a local author event combined with a wine-tasting and SPCA event for animals without homes. On July 31st she will be interviewed on KOCV FM radio by chad Harris preceeding her August 2 and 9 signings in Odessa, TX. Currently, Marrianne has been invited to do signings at the Hastings Books in Abilene, TX on August 16 and the Barnes and Noble in Tulsa, OK on August 30. She has also been invited to participate in a local author event at the BArnes and Noble in Midland, TX in October and to return to the Hastings Books in San Angelo, TX for their local author event on November 22.

A splendid three-column, quarter page interview in the Ogden (Utah) Standard Examiner, July 6 Sunday Life Section, reviews Toni Whittier's life and writings and introduces the subject book and a signing at Hastings Books in Ogden on July 12th from 2 to 4 p.m. Barnes and Noble Book Store in Layton, Utah is also in the process of setting up a signing at their store; no date as yet, that will be finalized as soon as they receive the books they have ordered.

Newspaper Article
Ed Buhrer, author of Luray, recently had a feature article written about him and the novel which appeared in The Central Virginian, the newspaper of Louisa and Fluvanna counties in Virginia. The article discussed the content and creation of the novel, Mr. Buhrer's experience in story-telling and his other novels, and his first and main love: teaching high-school juniors and seniors.

Barnes and Noble Book Signing
Dick Williamson PhD, author of In Black And White is pleased to announce that he will be having a book signing at Barnes and Noble, Dayton, Ohio at the Route 725 location. Dick was recently featured in the Neighbors section of the Dayton Daily News and was a featured guest on WBZI radio. He also received front page coverage in the Ohio newspaper the Xenia Daily Gazette and a cover story in the Sidney Daily News, Sidney Ohio.

A news story on the publication of The Lynching Stream, by historical fiction author Horane Smith, was carried on page 2 of Canada Extra, a newspaper that's available in major Canadian cities such as Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa, and Calgary. The article, which carried a picture of the book's cover, gave a brief summary of the novel. Horane Smith is the author of the popular novel Lover's Leap.

Author of Novel About Suicide Bombers Interviewed
Burt Keimach, the author of Suicide String, has been interviewed by the Market Rasen Mail, and will be soon interviewed by the Lincolnshire Echo (England). He will also be appearing on BBC TV, "Look North", and on BBC Radio Lincoln.

R.J. MacCurry will be doing his first Fallen Angels book signing at WaldenBooks located in the Charleston Place Hotel Mall in Charleston, SC. The book signing will be on July 19 between 6 pm and 8 pm. Charleston, SC is were the author now lives. MacCurry is also scheduling book signings with WaldenBooks in Asheboro, NC, Greensboro, NC, and High Point, NC. These three locations in North Carolina are were the fictional story, "Fallen Angels," takes place. The book signings will probably be in August. He is also hoping to do signings at possibly Barnes and Nobles and Bookamillion while he is in the area.

Speaking Engagement/Book Signing
W. Steven Harrell, author of The Unionist, will address the Houston County Chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans on July 14, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. at Pomo's in Centerville, Georgia. He will give the group a history of the 48th and 26th Georgia Confederate Regiments. He will sign copies of The Unionist after the meeting.

Connecticut Author Interviewed by the Connecticut Journal Newspaper
Connecticut author Tyrone Vincent Banks was interviewed by the CT Journal and his story is the lead story in the July 11, 2003 issue. CT Journal Editor/Writer Joan Hunt writes: "He (Mr. Banks) has written a book of poetry about the experience (interracial relationship) called Under the Melting Pot, which is not only a testament to his patience and devotion, but also a great love story that will inspire others to follow his guide." Tyrone Vincent Banks, author of the new release entitled: "Under the Melting Pot" will conduct his first book signing at Borders Books & Music in Farmington, CT. The event will take place on September 24, 2003 at 7:30 pm.

TV Appearance and Book Signings
Molly Brent, author of There Ain't Enough Front Porches, appeared on the 4 o'clock show on an ABC affilliate, WLOX, in Biloxi Mississippi on Wednesday, the 9th. Ms. Brent was also the featured author on the USA Deep South website. Congressman Gene Taylor sent Molly a letter thanking her for being an inspiration to others. Ms. Brent has several book signings lined up and her book is being carried by several local bookstores and gift shops.

TV interview
Marian Shields was interviewed by TF1 on 15th July about her forthcoming publication "Army of Light" the broadcast featuring a story about the island where she lives will be screened on Television France after the one o clock news (provisional date) 5th Aughust. This is Marians first novel and she is very excited by the process of publication by Publish America.

Ed Buhrer
, author of Luray, was recently interviewed by Kate Lewis, of the Daily News Record, a daily newspaper of Harrisonburg, Virginia. Over the course of the thirty-minute interview, Ed talked about writing, where he gets the ideas and motivation to write, his main career as a teacher of English and Writing, and what hopes he has for some of the remaining seven novels he has written to be published as well. Asked why he had chosen Luray, Virginia, as the setting, he replied, "it's a beautiful area with really nice people." Mr. Buhrer was also recently interviewed by Max and Rick, on the morning show of 3WV, 97.5 FM, Charlottesville, Virginia. Over the course of the twenty-minute interview, Ed talked about writing, the excitement of a first novel being published, and his hopes for some of the other seven he has written to be published as well.

Author Nominated for American Library Association Award
Gypsey Teague's first novel, The Life and Deaths of Carter Falls, has been nominated for the American Library Association Stonewall Award in fiction for 2004. This Award is given to books of a Gay, Lesbian, BiSexual, or Transgender subject area. Her sequel, Two's Company, Three You Die!, is due to be printed by PA shortly. Although the action revolves around a transgendered National Security Agent, the mystery and suspence will keep any reader guessing until the last page. This is a keeper, said Dawn Myers, from Writer's Unlimited. All ages can read this safely, since there is no sex or foul language, just shoot em up action.

Mystery Author has two book signings
Gypsey Teague will be signing her latest mystery novel, The Life and Deaths of Carter Falls, in Dallas at Shades of Grey, 3930 Cedar Springs Rd, on July 19th from 2-4 pm, and at The Full Circle Book Store at 50 Penn Place, 50 Penn Avenue, OKC, on August 9, between 2 and 4 pm. Movie Option
The film option to Waterford-born Tom O'Brien's book 'Confessions Of An Altar Boy' has been snapped up by One In The Eye Films and Television. The London-based production company, run by well-known UK producer Mike Bluett, and patronised by Oscar-nominated director Jim Sheridan,are now in discussions with a top Irish playwright to script the project. 'Confessions' is Tom's warts-and-all autobiography of growing up in rural Waterford in the 1950's and 1960's. Read it and weep!

Phillip Wolf, author of God Gave Us a Promise: The Story of a Little Fighter will be releasing an 8-minute promotional video of his book on July 4, 2003. The video is produced and edited by RAS 2 Productions. It will be distributed to producers in motion pictures, to officials in government and to families whose children are touched with some form of congenital heart defect (CHD). Barnes & Noble (Dayton Mall area in Dayton Ohio) has bought 3 copies of The Chosen, by Jeff Ross. Other Dayton book stores are also reviewing The Chosen. The Miamisburg-West Carrollton (Ohio) News has agreed to print a story on Wed., July 16th about Mr. Ross and the book's release by PublishAmerica.

Book signing
Author Roy W. Brown will be signing copies of his book Jig How in the Readmore ETC. Bookstore in Richmond, Indiana Saturday, July 12 from 2 to 4 pm. The Bookstore is located at Ninth and Main Streets and now stocks Brown's book.

Wiley's Christian Books in Cedar Falls, IA, will sponser a book signing for Mary Hornback's book, "God, Are You Really There?" on July 12, 2003, from 1:00-3:00pm.

The Dead Angel Signings Update and Revisions
The first signing for Carolyn Rowe Hill's murder mystery, The Dead Angel, (pub date, July 5) will be on July 12th in Petoskey, Michigan, from 1-3 in the afternoon at Horizon Books on E. Mitchell Street. A second signing will take place in Pentwater, Michigan, on July 30, and another in Muscatine, Iowa, on September 5th. Dates are pending in Hart, Michigan, and Ann Arbor. Pre-publication sales have been brisk. Most common comment: I couldn't put it down.

Radio Interview
Richard Cloutier will be interviewed by Sean Patrick on WPEP radio's Newsline PM Newsmaker program July 2nd from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The live discussion will focus on Cloutier's new horror/suspense novel Caveat Emptor.

Birmingham Event Being Held for Mobile Author
Mary S. Palmer of Mobile, AL, will be honored in Birmingham, Alabama, at a party/book signing for The Callings July 10, 2003. Details will be announced. Her book is now available at Guy's Book Store in Newnan, GA, at Just Books in Foley, AL, at Crossroads Cathedral (Penacostal) in Birmingham, AL, and at St. Lawrence Book Store in Fairhope, AL.

Book Launching/Signing/Promotion
Horane Smith, author of the upcoming novel, The Lynching Stream, which will be published July 18, will be at the author's tent at the Canadian-Caribbean Literary festival, which be held at the Design exchange, 234 Bay St. Toronto, on June 20-21. He will use the opportunity to meet visitors, distribute flyers, and inform them about his fourth novel of historical fiction, which is published by Publish America. On July 31, The Lynching Stream will be launched at Burkes Book Store, 873 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, beginning at 7. p.m. On Sunday, August 3, Mr. Smith will be reading and signing books at Wordfest, a literary festival, which will be held at Nathan Philips Square, Toronto, as part of CARIBANA, the biggest Caribbean Festival in North America. This festival attracts more than one million people, mostly Americans.

First Book Signing
Bob Schlegel author of Command Authority announces his first book signing at the Urban Think book store in Orlando, Florida. The event will take place on August 21, 2003 from 7-9pm. Bob leaves for Key West the following day to conduct "research" for his next book titled, The Theosus Key. This trip coincides with the Ernest Hemingway look-a-like contest during the Hemingway Days festival at Sloppy Joes bar. "I have ball watching a bunch of old men try to convince about twelve former winners that they should be "papa" for a year. It's hot, the booze flows, the huge audience hooting for their favorite bearded fat man, make this an enjoyable event. You've got to be there. It's vintage Key West craziness," Bob tell us.

Brother and Sister joint book-signing at Festival
Panora Author Kate Brown Fisher will have another book signing for the Panora Public Library at the town's annual "Panorama Days" Festival on August 1st, 2003. Joining her will be her brother, Joshua Brown, author of Wolfshire: The Keep.

First Book Signing after Release
Carolyn Rowe Hill's first book signing following the release of The Dead Angel on July 5, 2003, will be in her hometown of Petoskey, Michigan, at Horizon Books, 319 E. Mitchell Street from 1-3 in the afternoon. Everyone in the area is invited to attend.

United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame
In August 2003, Duane Ethington, author of Limpy and Black Hawk, will be inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Barnes & Noble Book Signings
Kevin Sheehan, author of Should Old Acquaintance Be Rubbed Out, has a few book signings lined up at Barnes & Noble over the summer. Several other B&N locations in the tristate area are also considering signings.

"New Girl" Goes International
Mike Reynolds' "The New Girl" has been awarded inclusion in Gender Inn, the International Women's and Gender Studies Database, sponsored by the University of Cologne, (Uni-Koeln) in Germany. Gender Inn is a searchable database providing access to over 7,500 scholarly essays, reviews and other nonfiction works pertaining to feminist theory, feminist literary criticism and gender studies focusing on English and American literature. It's intent is to provide easy international access for university professors and other scholars to currrent works examining the social nature of human gender. A review of and listing for "The New Girl" will be included by the end of July, 2003.

Guest Speaker
Toni Lamparter Mabry, author of Chance Encounters: The Story of the Innkeeper's Son, will be a guest speaker for Friends of the Library, at the West Memphis AR public library. The meeting will be held at 10:00 AM, on July 2, 2003. The public is invited.

Book Signing
Bookstop Plus Inc, 2810 Bartlett Rd., located in Bartlett, Tennessee requested 50 copies of Ghosts in the House from author Shirley Jones. There will be a book signing on June 14th, 2003, from 2pm to 4pm.
