in Hazelden
Kimberly Owen, author of The Apple Doesn't
Fall Far..., sent a copy of her book to Hazelden,
a well-known substance abuse treatment center. The following
is their response:
Hi
Kimberly,
Your book arrived with today's mail. We will now catalog
it into our collection, and into our collection database
that not only provides pertinent information about
the book, but summarizes its contents as well. Once
established in our database, it is available in two
ways:
(1) It is announced to our staff (along with other
new titles), and is available to staff and select
others for check out.
(2) It is available in the database for anyone who
visits our web site and is preforming a database search
such that the title would appear. Usually, such lists
are then taken to the searcher's local library/book
store to try and obtain copies of what they need.
I am also going to send information about your book
to an international network I belong to, SALIS (Substance
Abuse Librarians and Information Specialists). Each
issue of our quarterly news letter contains a list
of new books in the field.
Sincerely,
