Signings
Betty King, appeared recently at a local church
in Mt Vernon, IL for a book reading, speaking engagement
and book signing. She will be at B. Dalton in the same
community for a book signing for both her books,
It Takes Two Mountains to Make a Valley, and the
CS for the Mother and Daughter Soul, in which she has
a story, on April 19th from 12:00- 2:00.

Will Garret, author of Publish America's recently
release Western novel "The Burning Hills"
will participate in a Western Writers of America book
signing party on June 28, 2003 at the Helena, MT. Walmart
from noon to 3pm. The event is part of the organization's
annual convention and is co-sponsored by Anderson Merchandising
and Walmart Stores.

Education
for after school teenager program relating to prevention
and cure of drug and alcohol issues
Joseph
Guardino, author of Delight, will discuss
drug and alcohol prevention strategies during the afterschool
program in Brooklyn, New York. Joseph has established
relationships with the teenagers through this worthwhile
program. The principles of drug and alcohol recovery
through Salvation and healing by faith in Jesus Christ
will be discussed starting in April 2003.

Author Designated Western Writers of America "Ambassador"
Will Garret, whose Western novel "The
Burning Hills" was recently released by Publish
America, has been asked to serve as the Western Writers
of America (WWA) "Ambassador" to the State
of Minnesota. The WWA is the nation's premier organization
for Western writers and annually sponsors the prestigious
"Spur Awards". Current members include popular
Western authors Elmer Kelton, John Jakes, Johnny D.
Boggs, Peter Brandvold and many others.

The "Lobos Club", a mens' organization within
the Hacienda Carmel, a Senior's Condominium at Carmel,
CA, invited the David Harris to describe the
making of his book, "Boola Boola Flyboy",
scheduled for release during the week of March 19-26.Copies

Robert
Schlegel's new website
Robert Schlegel announces his new web site for
his action/adventure novel, Command Authority.
This chillingly revelent novel tells the story of the
theft of nuclear weapon warheads from the Soviet Union.
Much of the story takes place in Key West since the
weapons are headed to Cuba and held by a rogue member
of the Cuban government. If the United States does not
pay the ransom demanded for the weapons, one will be
detonated near the Dry Tortugas islands in the Gulf
of Mexico.
School-Sponsored
Book Signing
Southside Christian School honors one of their own,
Lynda Moldrem, on Friday, March 28 at 10 AM with
an on-campus book signing for the first novel in her
Captivity Series, The Summer Is Ended. All school
700 school families have been invited as well as the
school staff. The public is also welcome. Media coverage
is expected for the local author.
The Dragon Page is Talking to Stan Lee
Michael Mennenga, author of Mistress of the
Dragon, co-host of “The
Dragon Page,” the syndicated online radio talk show
about Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Everything Dragon is pleased
to announce that it will air its interview with Spiderman
Creator, Stan Lee, on March 20, 2003. “The Dragon Page”
focuses primarily on interviewing authors and actors/actresses,
with backgrounds in the realm of science fiction and
fantasy, and promoting new upcoming authors in
the field. Among other topics, Stan "spills the
beans" on some upcoming Marvel comics properties
that are headed for the big screen. Spiderman and Marvel
fans will not want to miss this broadcast. “The Dragon
Page” will air this very special program on Thursday,
March 20, 2003 at 1:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 1:00
p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m. (all times EST) through
the Book Crazy Radio Network. Past guests have included
actor Peter Coyote (Erin Brockovich, Random Hearts),
legendary authors Piers Anthony and Terry Brooks, and

Third
book signing scheduled for Lila B. Mullins
Follett Stores, which operates the University Bookstore
at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, is hosting
a book signing for Lila B. Mullins, author of
"When the Sails Go Up and the Waves Come Ashore."
The event is scheduled for April 8, 2003, from 11:30
a.m. to 1 p.m. This particular signing is special to
the 84-year-old Mullins, since she has lived in the
Lipscomb University neighborhood for almost sixty years.
In addition, her daughter and three grandsons have all
attended Lipscomb. The Lipscomb University Bookstore
serves over 5,000 students in grades Kindergarten through
college, as well as Masters Program, Lifelong Learning
and Adult Studies students. It is also the book source
for over 500 Lipscomb faculty and staff.
East
Texas Book Festival
On saturday, March 15th from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.,
the Pulpwood Queens in alliance with The Jeffersonian
Institute will be showcasing an author extravaganza.
Authors will be giving booktalks, readings, demonstrations,whatever
at The Cypress Valley Education Center located downtown
historic Jefferson at 120 East Austin Street. The event
is free and we invite you all to attend. Booklovers
will get to meet and get up close and personal to authors
who have books from the full spectrum of subjects; fiction,
non-fiction, cookbook, humor, and inspirational. The
event will be held in the central galley with the authors
speaking in the adjaceant courtyard, weather permitting.
The authors will have their books available at their
booths to be signed and purchased. Mary Erickson
of "Ten Times Have the Lillies Blown"
will appear at 2:00 p.m., Marcyle Taliaferro
of "Fountains of the Spirits" will
appear at 3:00 p.m. and Margie Tooney of "The

Conference on Longevity

X-Ray goes to sea
Jess Parker, author of Detachment X-Ray
reports: "I really feel good. Detachment X-Ray
is in the mail destined for U.S.S. Bridge which is destined
for the middle east. I sent a number of copies for the
ship's library. They will deploy this week."
Pirates
all set to "sale"
The pirates, Chris Cole and Cody Lee (CC Colee),
will be at the Barnes and Noble in Bel Air, Maryland
on March 21, 2003 from 6pm and 8pm. With their pirate
paraphernalia and dressed as the two main female characters
of their pirate adventure, their books, RB: The Widow
Maker and RB: The Enchantress, will be available
for purchase. On March 22, 2003, the pirates CC Colee
will turn their sights on Gaitersburg, Maryland for
the Gaitersburg International Book Festival held at
the Activity Center in Bohrer Park, Gaithersburg, Maryland
from 10am to 4pm. Dressed again as their characters
and equipped with their pirate accouterments, they will
be armed with candy to pass out to the children.
Silent
Auction
Sparks Health System, a Fort Smith, AR regional hospital
has requested the book, "Windy John's, me 'n
tut" by author Joyce Rapier to be included
in a silent auction hosted by Sparks Guild. The silent
auction raises money for labratory and major hospital
equipment. "An Evening for Sparks", slated
April 26, 2003 will be held at the Fort Smith Convention
Center. The agenda includes a BBQ dinner with entertainment
by country and western stars, Doug Stone and Shenandoah.

Appearance
On March 13 Toni Lamparter Mabry, Author of CHANCE
ENCOUNTERS: THE STORY OF THE INNKEEPER'S SON will
be interviewed on the CBS morning show, Live At 9:00,
on Channel 3 in Memphis TN. Alex Coleman and MaryBeth
Conley will talk with her about the book and her book
signing at Borders Bookstore in Germantown on March
15, at 3:00 pm.

Benefit
for Animal Friends, Pittsburgh's Only No Kill Shelter
in the Strip
Pittsburgh writer, and longtime Animal Friends volunteer,
Maureen X. Vidunas will have a book signing and
reading on Sunday, March 23rd, 2003, from 3:00PM - 6:00PM
of her book, "Cat Dancers of the Universe"
to benefit Animal Friends. What will make this event
unique from other book readings/signings, is that Maureen
has invited friends to participate , so that this occasion
will indeed, be a truly memorable day for everyone who
attends. Maureen's friends, local actress Tracey Turner,
and Pittsburgh musician, Crisis Car's Frank Spadafora
have generously donated their time to make this happening
an extremely enchanting day. Tracey will add a special,
exciting flair as she reads excerpts from "Cat
Dancers of the Universe", while Frank's own musical
composition will delightfully play as the background
music. Maureen has chosen Emma's Art and Coffee Emporium
in Historic Lawrenceville for this special day, and
owner, Judith McKnight Krynski has also been very kind
to donate her space and two wonderful gift baskets to
be raffled off at the event. One basket filled with
cat treats and toys, and the second basket filled with
goodies for those charming canines. There will also
be some gift items for cats and dogs as well. All proceeds
will benefit Animal Friends.
Lecture
and Book Signing
Mary T. Dresser, author of STAND FAST
and the soon to be released FREEDOM'S COST, will
appear on March 11 at the Martin Luther King library
in Clearwater, Fl. to speak on Black Participation in
the American Revolution. Pn April 2 Mary T. Dresser
will speak on Scotland and the Battle of Culloden at
the Duneden Public Library as part of the city's Scots
Highland Days. On April 3 she will speak to the Ladies
Club of Duneden on Historical Novels. Mary Dresser has
previously appeared at Author's signings for the Friends
of the Clearwater Library and has led study sessions
on novel writing at the Tarpon Springs Library.

C.H. Clotworthy, author of War of The Light
has a book signing at Barnes & Noble, Mandeville,
LA on March 22nd.

Writers Meeting
Mary Ann Kerl, author of The Secret, Janessa's
Clues to the Cabin Mystery and The Proposal will
be speaking on "How to PLot the Young Adult Mystery
Novel" to a group of Tulsa mystery writers on Saturday,
March 15. Mary Ann will also have her books for sale.

Raises Funds for Rearch of CHD in Children
Phillip Wolf, author of God Gave us a Promise
raised over $500.00 for a local children's charity to
research congenital heart disease in children during
his book launch party on March 8, 2003 at the Lone Star
Country Club in Coppell, Texas. Phillip Wolf and Dallas
Cowboys #87 Ken-Yon Rambo autographed books, t-shirts,
posters and prizes won at the event after Phillip's
unique author presentation regarding congenital heart
disease in children and why he wrote his book. Although
few books were sold (many brought their own to have
signed), all t-shirts were sold out, which 100% of the
proceeds benefited charity. Phillip will be presenting
the check to the charity along with his wife, Patience;
their son's home nurse, Mark Manriquez; and the DJ of
the party, Wayne Edmondson on Wednesday, March 12. The
video of the party can be ordered soon for free from
Wolf Entertainment to increase awareness of congenital
heart disease in children.

Robert Schlegel informs us that he has a new
web site to inform the reader about his new action/adventure
fiction novel, Command Authority. The major theme
of this action packed book, just published by Publish

women Hosting Author
The Nature Coast Branch of the National Organization
of American Pen Women's Association has invitied Mr.
Walter Rudd, author of Fladen's Child - The Gentle
Viking to speak to them on March 18 at their monthly
meeting. The session will be an opportunity for the
local comunity (Central Florida) to be introduced to
the author and hear how he tackled difficult problems
associated with the writing and publication of his literary
work. He will have on hand a small number of copies
of his book for interested buyers.

Lectures on Revolutionary War history as presented in
the historical novels STAND FAST and FREEDOM'S
COST. In January and February author Mary Dresser
appeared at libraries in Tarpon Springs and Clearwater,
Florida. In March she discussed the "Invisible
black soldiers of the American Revolution." In
April she will discuss the Scots Jacobite Revolt in
Dunedin as part of the city's Scotland Heritage Days.
She will also speak to the Dunedin Ladies club on historical
novels. Her books are on sale at all these appearances.

eligible for Mille Club!
Evelyn Horan, author of Jeannie, A Texas Frontier
Girl Book One and Book Two received the announcement
that her books had reached sales in the l000 range making
her eligible for membership in Publish America's Honorary
Organization, the Mille Club. "I am delighted to
know that sales of my children's books have now qualifed
me for membership in the Mille Club," states Evelyn

Roper Speakes About Hs Laos Memoir
Jim Roper spoke about Quoth the Raven
today to the Montgomery (Alabama) Chapter of the Military
Retired Officers Association. The organization's national
magazine, Military Officer, has agreed to review his
book. Jim will speak to the Montgomery Kiawanis Club
on 1 May. Also, the Pikes Peak Writers newsletter will
publish Jim's article about editing in its May edition
and feature Jim and Quoth the Raven in a Success Story
column. The Pikes Peak Writers group operates an annual
writers' conference that Writers Digest has rated sixth
in the nation.
