Author Meets Photographer
Author Ed Mondich, author of The Crystalline Rain, and his wife Ruth, recently had the honor of meeting Mr. Barrie Schwortz at the Shroud of Turin Symposium, hosted by the Witte Museum, and the local chapter of the American Chemical Society, in San Antonio, Texas on November 11th. Mr. Schwortz was the photographer of the Shroud of Turin Research Project, which conducted scientific research and analysis of the Holy Shroud in Turin, Italy in 1978. Ed used Mr. Schwortz's famous photograph for the cover of Ed's new book, The Crystalline Rain. Ed said that he and Ruth enjoyed Mr. Schwortz's informative lecture, as well as the other speakers', but the highlight of the evening was showing Mr. Schwortz one of Texas' own precious artifacts, the Alamo.

Writer's Digest 2002 Writing Competition
John Russo author of Indian Givers, was recently awarded a Honorable Mention for a short story in the Writer's Digest 2002 writing competition.

Stephen Sulkey, author of Dixie, held a book signing at Bristol Books in Wilmington on Sunday November 17. The State Port Pilot in Southport, NC will run a story about Dixie and on Saturday November 23 Stephen held a signing at The Heller Bookery in Southport, NC.

Hope for Healing
Brenda H. Greene, author of From My Son's Garden, has been asked to present "Hope for Healing" on December 5, Thursday, 6:30 pm at the Jasper County Library in Rensselaer, IN. This presentation offers suggestions and ideas for coping with grief after the loss of a child. She will also have her book and new single release CD (God's Special Angel: "The Butterfly Song") available to the public.

World Book Day Events
Kevin P. Grover, author of the critically-acclaimed novels "Strike Hard" and "Strike Swiftly" is currently in negotiations to appear as a special guest in a webcast discussion during the World Book Day events in the United Kingdom. Mr. Grover has been asked to host a day-long discussion about his works, fiction-writing in general, and otehr topics. More news to follow as the plans are finalized and the event draws nearer.

Times-Herald-Record Article
Just in time for the release of the hardcover edition, The Times-Herald-Record of Middletown, New York, with a circulation of nearly 200,000 ran a half-page article on John Nolan's book, In Search of Great Uncle Pat: Titanic Survivor, in their Sunday, Nov. 17 edition. Meanwhile, the Titanic Commutator, the official publication of the Titanic Historical Society, has requested a review copy.

Writing Seminar
Brenda H. Greene
will be at the Rensselaer Public Library, Rensselaer, IN, on November 21 at 6:30pm where she will be offering "Tips for Beginning Writers." Her book From My Son's Garden and her new release single CD "God's Special Angel: The Butterfly Song" will also be available.

WCTV Appearance
Allen McClain, author of Murder in the Middle of Nowhere was featured on his local cable channel, Channel 48 WCTV, The appearance featured Allen, his book and how to order a copy, and a little background. There are about 210,000 residents in the City of Chesapeake, VA where this feature was viewed.

FWA Convention Winner
Magnolia: A Wilting Flower by Barbara J. Robinson won a trophy on October 26 from the Florida Writers Association (FWA) Convention.

Oprah, Dr. Laura and Allure Magazine
Oprah's show has requested a media package about Gail Majcher's book A Worthy Woman as did Dr. Laura's show and Allure Magazine.

La Salle Academy News
Delight by Joseph Guardino won an honorable mention in the fall 2002 La Salle Academy News. La Salle Academy is a 150 year old catholic private school.

The Writing Parent
Magnolia: A Wilting Flower by Barbara J. Robinson was spotlighted on The Writing Parent's website. The article included pictures of both the front and back covers of her book, as well as a large write up.

Arizona Author's Association Contest Winner
Lori Avocato, author of The Prince's Bride won Third place in the Arizona Author's Assoc. Contest for published fiction on Nov. 8, 2002.

Radio Interview
Ray Van Horn, author of Mentor had an interview with WTTR radio in Westminster, which aired November 9th.

Book Signing
Jim Roper will sign Quoth the Raven on Friday, November 29th, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Moe & Johnny's, 5830 N. College, Indianapolis, Indiana. The restaurant is owned by another graduate of Wabash College, where Jim's war memoir begins. On graduation day in 1968 he holds fellowship offers in one hand and draft notice in the other.

Book Signing and Seminar
Deborah Turner, author of If I Perish, has a book signing coming up December 5th at the Sno-Isle regional library in Coupeville, WA. She will be doing a short mini-seminar on creative writing and how the publishing business works, from draft to completed book.

NBC Interview
Patrick P. Stafford
, author of Homage to a Princess, was interviewed on Thursday, November 7th on Channel 5, KOBI (an NBC affilite), on their morning news program in Medford, Oregon. Patrick was on the air for quite some time and will able to ruminate on both his book and his father's book, The Blue Marionette.

TV Interview
Adam-Michael James, author of Undo the Deed was interviewed on KCOX Channel 12 on Wednesday, November 13, and it will air very soon after. It can be seen on TV on the San Pedro/Palos Verdes, CA Cox Cable system.

Book Readings
Fred Strickert, author of The Lorelei hosted a book reading on November 17 at Waverly Public Library. Previously, Fred had book readings at "Bought Again Books" bookstore in Cedar Falls, Iowa on September 30 and at the Wartburg College Book store for Homecoming on Oct. 19.

Nationally Syndicated Radio Interview
Julie Daube, author of Shadows of Babylon, was interviewed on the nationally syndicated radio show "American Breakfast" of November 13th. The program is hosted by Phil Paleologos and syndicated nationwide from coast to coast. Phil has been named a Top 100 talk host, and numerous celebrities have been guests of his show. Recent guests have included Michael Dukakis, Armstrong Williams, Phyllis Schlafley, CEO and editor of WorldNetDaily Joseph Farah, Bomber B-1 Bob Dornan, Robert Reich (Secretary of Labor under Pres. Clinton), and Gary Aldrich (author of the best-selling book, "Unlimited Access") as well as several members of Congress. The show has also been featured numerous times on Good Morning America.

Book Signings
Rosy Latur, author of Heart of a Victim in Harm's Way hosted her first book signing at Hy Vee Super market Saturday, Nov. 16. Hy Vee let her leave books there to sell. Rosy also has a book signing lined up at Barnes and Noble, where they are going to sell them in the store with the other local authors. Rosy has successfully placed books in Lee books stores, Wells Fargo Bank and Elders Jewelry.

UFO Info Bookstore Addition
Stephen Yulish's novel, "The Great Harpazo Deception:the real story of UFOs" has just been added to the bookstore of the award winning site UFOINFO.com.

Appearance in The Washington Post
Brian Hartford, author of Change of Heart, and fellow heart transplant recipient Bob Moon were featured in the Washington Post Howard County Magazine "extra" section in the November 14th edition of The Washington Post. The article, "New Hearts, New Lives" was written by Cathy Lickteig and tells of the synergy between fellow transplant recipients and their great gift of life. Ironically the article was released during national organ donor Saboth week where Churches and synagogues will honor donors and their families across the nation this weekend.

Idaho Writer of the Year
Sydney Duncombe, author of Blizzard in August won the writer of the year award in Idaho.

Private Book Signing and Reception
Emil Toth, the author of Batu: The Transformation, will have a private book signing and reception at the Unity Church of Peace, in South Bend, Indiana. The event will take place on Nov. 24th from 3 to 5 PM. Over two hundred friends and relatives have been invited to help celebrate the publication of his dramatic, inspiring and spiritual novel.

Barnes and Noble Book Signing
Jim Roper signed copies of his military memoir of the secret war in Laos, Quoth the Raven, at Barnes and Noble in Montgomery, Alabama, on November 16 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Newspaper Appearance and Book Signing
Stephen J. Sulkey, author of Dixie, announces that The State Port Pilot, a local paper in Southport, NC will carry an article about his book. Stephen will be doing a book signing in the Hellery Bookery in Southport between 1 and 4 on Nov. 23rd.

Barbara Spring will sign copies of The Dynamic Great Lakes at Barnes & Noble in Grand Rapids, MI on Nov. 23 from 4-5 p.m.

Fred Strickert, author of The Lorelei will have one of his essays entitled "Wars that Never End" featured in the Sunday Chicago Tribune during the month of November.

Television Interview and Book Signing
Lori Paris
, author of Folow Your Heart recently had a television interview on a local program called "Truckee Talks". She was interviewed by host Maia Schneider, and they discussed her book. They also talked about adoption, as that is the main theme of Lori's novel. The show aired at various times during the week on local cable channel 6 in the town of Truckee, CA. And up and coming in November, Lori will be having a book signing in Reno, NV at Barnes & Noble. It will be on Saturday, November 16th at 1:00 in the afternoon.

BookCrazy Radio Network
Debbie Neckel, owner of BookCrazy Radio Network, has named awards-winning author, Carolyn Howard-Johnson, (This is the Place and Harkenings) as a book reviewer. Her reviews on "All Things Literary" will be aired every day. She is known for her web reviews, but this will be the first time she has forayed away from the printed word.

Experimental Film
Novelist and film maker Erika Barr is pleased to announce that her film "MacNamara's Dream", an experimental film short, has been accepted in the Dallas Deep Ellum Film Festival for screening. "MacNamara's Dream" was written in tribute to Barr's favorite naughty protagonist from her novel, Acquisition of Power. The film can be viewed from her website.

NBC Television Interview
Patrick P. Stafford, author of Homage To A Princess, will appear on the local NBC affiliate television station in his area next Thursday, on their morning program to promote both his and his father Elsan H. Stafford's book The Blue Marionette.
