Note
from the Sundance Film Centers
Laura Klotz sent an autographed gift copy of
her book, "Saving the World in Your Spare Time,"
to actor Robert Redford, in recognition of his work
to preserve the environment from destruction. She received
the following response from his secretary, Connie Wethington:
I am writing on behalf of Robert Redford regarding
your recent package.
Thank you for sending Mr. Redford a copy of your book,
"Saving the World in Your Spare Time." Your
thoughtful gesture was appreciated.
Mr. Redford is in the midst of a full schedule of
film production and organizational commitments (including
executive producing the upcoming PBS telefilm "Coyote
Waits" among others) and his time and energies
are stretched to their limits. That in combination
with the vast amount of literature he receives daily
for his perusal makes it impossible for him to personally
respond to each and every item and individual who
has so kindly taken the time to write. While not your
intent, I must state for legal reasons that "Saving
the World in Your Spare Time" cannot be considered
as a possible film idea submission.
However, I can add that Mr. Redford always appreciates
the fact that most real change comes from the grassroots
and moves upward. Rest assured that Mr. Redford has
been and will also continue to work on a variety of
environmental issues. If you would like information
on an environmental organization Mr. Redford regularly
works with, please visit the website of the National
Resources Defense Council and/or its companion site.
Best wishes for the future and thank you again for
your generosity.
Sincerely,
Connie Wethington
